Public Hearing on Proposed Contract Documents and Estimated Costs for Repair or Improvement. A public hearing will be held by the City of Jefferson on the proposed contract documents (plans, specifications and form of contract) and estimated cost for the improvement at its meeting at 5:30 P.M. on June 23, 2026, at 220 North Chestnut Street, Jefferson, Iowa 50129.

Project Description. This project is separated into two locations within Jefferson. Base Bid: Sidewalk construction on West Lincoln Way from Grimmell Rd to Westwood Dr, on north side of Westwood Dr from Briarwood Bend to Grimmell Rd, south side of Westwood Dr from W Lincoln Way to E Rush Ridge Rd and on Grimmell Rd from Westwood Dr to W Lincoln Way for the construction of approximately 8,250 feet of 6′ wide PCC sidewalk, 6″ thick with 6″ modified subbase. Quantities include 5,281 SY of 6″ PCC sidewalk, 1,692 SY of 6″ PCC driveway, 483 SY of 7” pavement, 7,456 SY of 6″ modified subbase and 710 SF of modular block retaining wall along with other misc. items to complete the project. Alternate Bid: 1 block of downtown alley on the east side of Chestnut St between 113 and 115 N Chestnut St. Quantities include 229 SY of 6” PCC pavement, 228 SY of pavement removal, 315 SY of 6” modified subbase, window well and doorway abandonment and blocking, step and handrail construction and other misc. items to complete the project.

At said hearing, the City Council will consider the plans, specifications, proposed form of contract, and estimated total cost for the project, the same now being on file in the office of the City Clerk, 220 North Chestnut Street, Jefferson, Iowa 50129, reference to which is made for a more detailed and complete description of the proposed improvements, and at said time and place the said City Council will also receive and consider any objections to said plans, specifications, estimate of cost, and form of contract made by any interested party.
